Plumber in Collaroy Plateau

Bathrooms, water coming in below ground, and roofs and gutters for Collaroy Plateau homes built on sandstone.

What we get called out to in Collaroy Plateau

  • Leaking showers. And bathroom floors that have been damaged from underneath by years of a slow leak.
  • Water below ground. Water running along the sandstone and coming into garages and lower rooms after rain.
  • Gutters and downpipes. On two-storey homes, worn out early by salt air and leaf litter.
  • Stormwater on a slope. Roof and surface water on a sloping block that has nowhere to go.

Collaroy Plateau is at the edge of the area we cover, so we will be straight with you about timing when you ring.

What we do here

Emergency plumber in Collaroy Plateau

Water coming through a ceiling, into the garage or out of a burst pipe? Ring 9904 3074 rather than using the form. Most urgent jobs get a plumber the same day, and we tell you on the phone what to turn off in the meantime.

Office hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. After-hours work can be arranged for a fee.

In more detail

The three we get called about most

Bathrooms

A shower that has leaked quietly for years can take the floor with it. The tiles look fine until someone lifts them.

We find where the water is getting out and fix the waterproofing properly. When the damage goes further, we rebuild the bathroom with our own team and a carpenter we trust.

Bathroom renovations

Water below ground, on sandstone

Water runs along the top of the sandstone and comes in where the slab meets the rock, usually in a garage or a lower room.

Sealing the wall alone does not hold it. We deal with the drainage and the membrane together, and test before anything is closed up.

Below ground waterproofing

Roofs and gutters

Two storeys up, salt air and leaves are hard on gutters and downpipes, and an overflowing gutter finds its way into eaves and walls.

We replace them from scaffold, set the downpipes up to get water away from the house, and fit gutter guard where it saves you the cleaning.

Roofing and gutters

It’s an emergency! I’d better ring STS.

A typical job here

A shower leak that reached the floor beams

A bathroom floor opened up under a shower, with the sheeting gone and the timber beams rotted

The problem

The owner called about a leaking shower, and the plan was to replace the shower base. When we cut out the tiles there was no floor left under it. The sheeting had rotted out, the beams below had rotted, and the only thing holding the floor together was the tile bed. The rest of the bathroom floor was cracking.

What we did

We stopped work, made the floor safe and brought in a carpenter to replace the floor structure. Then we rebuilt the bathroom: moved the water points and drainage, waterproofed, tiled and fitted new fixtures.

The result

A new bathroom on a sound floor. A small leak, caught late, turned into a big job, which is why we tell every homeowner about the 1% maintenance rule.

Another Collaroy Plateau job

Water through the sandstone and gutters two storeys up

The problem

After rain, water was coming into the garage where the slab sits on the sandstone, and the gutters and downpipes on the two-storey house were past their best.

What we did

We cut out the joint between the slab and the rock, filled it and waterproofed the walls from the inside, then put in a strip drain. Up top, we replaced the gutters and downpipes from scaffold.

The result

A dry garage, and roof water taken away from the house instead of into it.

About the suburb

Plumbing in Collaroy Plateau

Collaroy Plateau sits high above Collaroy and Narrabeen, with many homes built into the slope and straight onto sandstone. That brings three kinds of job.

Water travels along the rock and finds its way into garages and lower rooms. Roofs and gutters take the full force of the coastal weather. And plenty of the bathrooms are old enough for the original waterproofing to have given up.

Most of the work here starts with a small sign: a stain on a ceiling, a cracked tile at the shower door, damp in the garage after rain. The earlier we see it, the smaller the job.

Before you budget for a bathroom or a roof, read the 1% maintenance rule and why your last bathroom leak repair didn't work.

Ewan did what 3 other roof plumbers failed to achieve and sealed a leak in our roof! He and his co-worker completed the work in a timely and efficient manner and the final price was exactly what he quoted. We will definitely use them again, highly recommended.

Questions we get asked in Collaroy Plateau

Why is my garage wet after rain?

On sandstone, water often runs along the top of the rock and comes in where the slab meets it. It usually needs drainage as well as waterproofing to fix, because a membrane on its own will not hold back water pressing from outside.

Is a leaking shower urgent?

If the leak is getting into the floor or the room below, yes. The longer it runs, the more of the floor it takes with it.

Can you do gutters on a two-storey house?

Yes. We work from scaffold or other safe access and replace gutters and downpipes as one job.

What does a plumber in Collaroy Plateau cost?

We price the job, not an hourly rate. You get the price in writing before we start.

Are your plumbers licenced and insured?

Yes. STS Plumbing Co Pty Ltd holds NSW licence 227192C and is insured, and the plumbers who turn up are our own team.

How quickly can you get here?

The office is open Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, and we call back within 24 hours, guaranteed. For anything urgent, ring rather than use the form.

Do you warrant your work?

Yes. If something is not right after we leave, we come back and put it right at our cost. That is part of the STS Guarantee above.
