Plumber in Macquarie Park

Commercial, strata and residential plumbing across Macquarie Park, from the office buildings to the apartment towers around the stations.

What we get called out to in Macquarie Park

  • Office buildings. Repairs and maintenance checks booked around your business, with the paperwork your tender process needs.
  • Apartment towers. Stacks, hot water plant and common drains, with reports for the building manager.
  • Backflow prevention. Testing and replacement of the devices commercial buildings are required to have.
  • Blocked drains in busy buildings. Cleared, filmed and explained, so the same line does not block again.
  • Leaks between floors. Found at the source and repaired, with the cause in writing.

What we do here

In more detail

The three we get called about most

Commercial drains

Cafes, food courts and busy office floors put more through a drain in a week than a house does in a year, and grease does the rest.

We jet the line properly, camera it, and tell you what is feeding the problem so it does not shut you down again at the worst possible time. Work booked around your trading hours, including early starts.

Commercial plumbing

Apartment towers

Stacks, risers, common drains and hot water plant, in buildings where one fault reaches a lot of residents quickly.

Every job comes back with photos and a written finding a building manager or committee can act on, and a fixed price. We deal with residents directly where that saves you the phone calls.

Strata plumbing

Backflow and compliance

Commercial buildings are required to have testable backflow prevention devices, and required to have them tested every year by someone endorsed to do it.

We test, repair and replace them, and give you the certificate and the paperwork your council and your building file need. The same goes for thermostatic mixing valves.

Backflow prevention

It’s an emergency! I’d better ring STS.

How we work with you

What happens from the first phone call

  1. You get in touch

Ring the office, send the form or email us. For anything urgent, ring — we will tell you what it usually means and what to do while we are on the way, like where your water meter is.

  2. We come and look

For anything bigger than a straightforward repair we come and look at it properly first, and there is no charge for that visit. Guessing at a price over the phone helps nobody.

  3. You get the price in writing

The job priced, not an hourly rate ticking over. If there is more than one sensible way to do it, you get both options and the difference between them explained.

  4. We do the work

Our own licenced plumbers, on the day we said. Drop sheets down, the mess taken away, and a phone call rather than silence if we are running behind.

  5. You see what we found

Photos, camera footage where we used it, and a plain explanation of what was actually wrong. If something is not right afterwards, ring us and we come back and put it right at our cost.

A job we did here

A Macquarie Park cafe kitchen about to shut down

A sewer junction opened up for inspection

The problem

A busy cafe near the shopping centre had a drainage blockage backing up towards the kitchen in the middle of service. If it stopped the kitchen, the day's trade went with it.

What we did

We got there the same morning and ran the camera in before doing anything, which showed grease and foreign objects packed deep in the line rather than a simple blockage near the trap. High pressure jetting cleared the full length of it, and we filmed it again afterwards to confirm the pipe was actually clear rather than just flowing.

The result

Kitchen back in service the same day. They are now on a scheduled clean so the same line is not the thing that closes them at lunchtime, and they know what is going down it that should not be.

About the suburb

Plumbing in Macquarie Park

Macquarie Park, postcode 2113, is the business end of Ryde, with the university, Macquarie Centre and the office and research buildings along Waterloo Road, Talavera Road and Lane Cove Road. In the last fifteen years it's also become a suburb of apartment towers, with thousands of new units around the station and along Herring Road and Epping Road.

The towers are strata work. A sewer stack, a stormwater line or a hot water plant serves dozens of apartments, and when it fails it fails for all of them at once. Pressure on the upper floors, a recurring blockage on a stack, a leak that appears in the apartment below. Building managers here need the camera footage, photos and a written finding they can put to a committee, and that's how we do it.

New buildings have their own problems. Drains that were tied in badly during the build, floor wastes that were never sealed properly, and fittings that have failed early. The camera finds most of it, and we put the finding in writing so the owner or the strata can take it up with whoever needs to hear it.

The commercial side is offices, labs, showrooms, gyms, cafes and the food court at Macquarie Centre. That's trade waste, grease traps, backflow devices that need annual testing, and bathrooms that serve hundreds of people a day. Those jobs are about getting in, doing the work cleanly and getting out without stopping anyone's trade, and we plan them that way. We do the annual backflow testing as well as the call-outs.

On the edges of Macquarie Park, towards North Ryde and Marsfield, there are still 1950s and 60s brick houses on big blocks, with earthenware sewers, roots in the joints and early copper or galvanised water services. Those get the same treatment as anywhere else: camera, jet, reline, and a new copper service from the meter where the old one has had it.

Macquarie Park is a short run from Lane Cove, where STS has been based since 2016, straight down Epping Road. Ring us for anything urgent, or ask us to come and look at a bigger job. There's no charge for the site visit.

Questions we get asked in Macquarie Park

What does a plumber in Macquarie Park cost?

It depends on the job, which is why we price the job rather than run an hourly rate. For anything bigger than a straightforward repair we come and look at it first, at no charge, and you get the price in writing before we start.

Are your plumbers licenced and insured?

Yes. STS Plumbing Co Pty Ltd holds NSW licence 227192C and carries insurance, and the blokes who turn up are our own team, not subcontracted labour.

How quickly can you get here?

Our office is open Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, and we call back within 24 hours, guaranteed. For anything urgent, ring rather than fill in the form and we will tell you what it usually means and when we can be there.

Do you work on units and commercial buildings?

Yes. A good share of our work is strata and commercial across the North Shore, and it comes with photos and a written finding a building manager or committee can act on.

Can you work outside our business hours?

We can start early and work around trading, and for commercial work we plan it that way from the outset. Our office runs Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, so scheduled work is booked rather than done on the night. Tell us what your quiet window is and we will work to it.

Do you warrant your work?

Yes. If something is not right after we have left, ring us and we will come back and put it right at our cost. That is part of the STS Guarantee above.
