What we get called out to in Cremorne
- Older unit blocks. Walk-ups and flats from the 1930s to the 1960s, with shared stacks that block and leak with age.
- Harbour weather on the roof. Salt air is hard on flashings, gutters and valleys.
- Sandstone and slope. Both change how a sewer or stormwater repair is dug, so we look before we price it.
- Old sewer lines. Clay pipe and tree roots under the older houses.
- Shops on Military Road. Commercial repairs booked around trading hours.
We have worked on drains in Cremorne on camera and in the ground, and it is right next door to Mosman, where STS started in 2007.
In more detail
The three we get called about most
Older unit blocks
Cremorne is full of walk-ups from the 1930s to the 1960s, and most of them are still on their original shared stacks. Age shows up as slow drains, smells and water appearing in the flat below.
We find which line the problem is actually on before anyone starts pulling things apart, and the report goes to the strata manager with photos attached. A price agreed upfront, not an hourly rate ticking over.
Strata plumbingRoofs in salt air
Close to the harbour the roof takes the weather first. Flashings corrode, valleys fill and gutters rust through, and the first you know about it is a stain on a ceiling.
We trace a roof leak to the actual cause rather than sealing the nearest likely spot, then fix it properly. Gutters, valleys, flashings, downpipes and box gutters on the older blocks.
Roofing and guttersBlocked drains
Behind Military Road the houses are on original clay sewer with plenty of garden around them, which means roots at the joints.
We jet the line, camera it, and show you what was in there. If the pipe is sound that is the end of it. If a joint has failed you will see it on the screen before we talk about what to do next.

How we work with you
What happens from the first phone call
-
You get in touch
Ring the office, send the form or email us. For anything urgent, ring — we will tell you what it usually means and what to do while we are on the way, like where your water meter is.
-
We come and look
For anything bigger than a straightforward repair we come and look at it properly first, and there is no charge for that visit. Guessing at a price over the phone helps nobody.
-
You get the price in writing
The job priced, not an hourly rate ticking over. If there is more than one sensible way to do it, you get both options and the difference between them explained.
-
We do the work
Our own licenced plumbers, on the day we said. Drop sheets down, the mess taken away, and a phone call rather than silence if we are running behind.
-
You see what we found
Photos, camera footage where we used it, and a plain explanation of what was actually wrong. If something is not right afterwards, ring us and we come back and put it right at our cost.
A job we did here
A burst pipe in a heritage Cremorne home
The problem
A Cremorne homeowner found water damage spreading across the hallway ceiling. The house is heritage listed, so tearing into walls to go looking for the source was the last thing anybody wanted.
What we did
We traced it to a burst copper pipe in a wall cavity, using thermal imaging to find the wet areas rather than opening the wall to look. We isolated the section, replaced the damaged run, and put in an access panel so nobody has to cut the wall open next time.
The result
Repaired with one small opening instead of a wall pulled apart, and drying gear left in place afterwards so the cavity did not go mouldy. The heritage finishes came through it intact.

Not a claim, a count
The work we have actually done in Cremorne
Our job records run from 2016. Since then we have completed 1,048 jobs in Cremorne.
That is the figure out of our job management system, not a number we made up for the website. It is also why we can usually tell you on the phone what a problem probably is before anyone gets in a ute.
The most common of them
- 505 taps, toilets and everyday repairs
- 272 blocked drains cleared
- 226 sewer and stormwater repairs
- 148 hot water repairs and replacements
- 83 roofing and guttering
Plenty of jobs cover more than one of these, so the numbers overlap rather than add up.
About the suburb
Plumbing in Cremorne
Cremorne, postcode 2090, sits between Neutral Bay and Mosman, with the shops on Military Road at the top and Cremorne Point running out into the harbour at the bottom. The peninsula is Federation houses and some of the best interwar flat blocks on the North Shore, on streets that drop steeply to the water.
The flats along Military Road and down the point were built in the 1920s and 30s with earthenware sewers and galvanised water services, and they share both between all the units in the block. A recurring blockage on a stack, a leak that appears in the flat below, or a hot water plant that can't keep up are strata jobs, and we do them with the strata manager in the loop. The camera goes down first and the finding comes back in writing with the footage, which is what the committee needs to make a decision.
The houses have the same age of plumbing. Roots in the sewer joints are the most common reason a Cremorne drain blocks, and a reline is the fix rather than another clear. The galvanised water services are often at the end of their life, which shows as poor pressure and brown water.
Cremorne Point is steep, and the houses towards the end of the point have long sewer runs downhill to the main, sometimes through rock and sandstone retaining walls. Finding a break with the camera before anyone digs matters more here than almost anywhere else we work.
Cremorne is right next door to Mosman, where STS started in 2007. We're in Lane Cove now, which makes it a short run. Ring us for anything urgent, or ask us to come and look at a bigger job. There's no charge for the site visit.

David M., CremorneQuestions we get asked in Cremorne
What does a plumber in Cremorne cost?
It depends on the job, which is why we price the job rather than run an hourly rate. For anything bigger than a straightforward repair we come and look at it first, at no charge, and you get the price in writing before we start.
Are your plumbers licenced and insured?
Yes. STS Plumbing Co Pty Ltd holds NSW licence 227192C and carries insurance, and the blokes who turn up are our own team, not subcontracted labour.
How quickly can you get here?
Our office is open Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, and we call back within 24 hours, guaranteed. For anything urgent, ring rather than fill in the form and we will tell you what it usually means and when we can be there.
Do you work on units and commercial buildings?
Yes. A good share of our work is strata and commercial across the North Shore, and it comes with photos and a written finding a building manager or committee can act on.
My unit block has a shared drain. Whose problem is it?
That depends on where the blockage actually is, which is why we camera it before anyone argues about it. If it is in the common line it is the owners corporation, if it is inside your lot it is yours. We put it in writing either way so nobody is guessing.
Do you warrant your work?
Yes. If something is not right after we have left, ring us and we will come back and put it right at our cost. That is part of the STS Guarantee above.
