In more detail
The three we get called about most
Towers and stacks
The buildings along the highway put a lot of people on the same pipework. Stacks, risers, common drains and hot water plant, where one fault reaches a lot of residents fast.
We find which line the fault is actually on, fix it, and hand back photos and a written finding a building manager or committee can act on. The price is fixed before we start.
Strata plumbingLeaks between floors
Water through a ceiling in a tower is rarely coming from directly above. Chasing it by opening ceilings gets expensive very quickly.
We locate it properly with leak detection gear first, repair it once, and put the cause in writing so the building knows what happened and who wears it.
Finding leaksOffices, suites and compliance
Medical suites, offices and retail along the highway, with work booked around the working day and the paperwork a building manager has to file.
Backflow prevention devices and thermostatic mixing valves tested, repaired and certified. Blocked drains cleared and filmed. Repairs that do not stop the tenancy trading.
Commercial plumbingIt’s an emergency! I’d better ring STS.
Old fashioned service. Modern day plumbing.

How we work with you
What happens from the first phone call
-
You get in touch
Ring the office, send the form or email us. For anything urgent, ring — we will tell you what it usually means and what to do while we are on the way, like where your water meter is.
-
We come and look
For anything bigger than a straightforward repair we come and look at it properly first, and there is no charge for that visit. Guessing at a price over the phone helps nobody.
-
You get the price in writing
The job priced, not an hourly rate ticking over. If there is more than one sensible way to do it, you get both options and the difference between them explained.
-
We do the work
Our own licenced plumbers, on the day we said. Drop sheets down, the mess taken away, and a phone call rather than silence if we are running behind.
-
You see what we found
Photos, camera footage where we used it, and a plain explanation of what was actually wrong. If something is not right afterwards, ring us and we come back and put it right at our cost.
A job we did here
A burst pipe that flooded a St Leonards laundry
The problem
A pipe let go inside a laundry wall and flooded the room before anyone could get the water off. The immediate problem was stopping it. The second problem was that the wall had to come apart to reach the pipe.
What we did
We isolated the water and located the burst inside the wall, then made a temporary repair to get the water back on to the rest of the house rather than leaving the family without it. We came back to do the permanent repair and patch the wall properly once everything had dried out.
The result
Water back on the same visit and the household running normally again within a couple of days. Because the wall was dried before it was closed up, there was no mould problem waiting behind it.

Not a claim, a count
The work we have actually done in St Leonards
Our job records run from 2016. Since then we have completed 93 jobs in St Leonards.
That is the figure out of our job management system, not a number we made up for the website. It is also why we can usually tell you on the phone what a problem probably is before anyone gets in a ute.
The most common of them
- 60 taps, toilets and everyday repairs
- 21 blocked drains cleared
- 11 hot water repairs and replacements
Plenty of jobs cover more than one of these, so the numbers overlap rather than add up.
About the suburb
Plumbing in St Leonards
St Leonards, postcode 2065, is the high-rise end of the Lower North Shore. Around the station and the Pacific Highway it's residential towers, office buildings and the Royal North Shore Hospital precinct, and a lot of it has gone up in the last fifteen years. Walk a few streets towards Naremburn or Crows Nest and it's Federation and interwar houses on quiet streets, with the old clay sewers and galvanised water services that go with them.
The towers are strata work. A stack, a common drain or a hot water plant serves dozens of apartments, so a fault in one place is felt on every floor. Building managers here need more than a plumber who turns up; they need photos, a camera report they can read, and a written finding they can put to a committee. That's how we work, whether it's a recurring blockage on a stack or a hot water plant that's short of pressure on the top floors.
The older houses on the Naremburn side have the usual problems of their age. Roots get into the earthenware sewer joints, the drain blocks every few months, and clearing it only buys time. We put the camera down to find the break, jet it clear, and reline it where the pipe is sound enough, which fixes it without digging up the garden. Where the pipe has collapsed we replace that section.
There's a lot of commercial plumbing in St Leonards: office bathrooms, cafes on the ground floor of the towers, medical suites around the hospital. Those jobs are about getting in, doing the work cleanly and getting out without interrupting anyone's day, and we plan them that way.
St Leonards sits between Crows Nest, where STS was based from 2010 to 2016, and Lane Cove, where we've been since. It's a few minutes from the office. Ring us for anything urgent, or ask us to come and look at a bigger job. There's no charge for the site visit.

J.L., Google reviewQuestions we get asked in St Leonards
What does a plumber in St Leonards cost?
It depends on the job, which is why we price the job rather than run an hourly rate. For anything bigger than a straightforward repair we come and look at it first, at no charge, and you get the price in writing before we start.
Are your plumbers licenced and insured?
Yes. STS Plumbing Co Pty Ltd holds NSW licence 227192C and carries insurance, and the blokes who turn up are our own team, not subcontracted labour.
How quickly can you get here?
Our office is open Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, and we call back within 24 hours, guaranteed. For anything urgent, ring rather than fill in the form and we will tell you what it usually means and when we can be there.
Do you work on units and commercial buildings?
Yes. A good share of our work is strata and commercial across the North Shore, and it comes with photos and a written finding a building manager or committee can act on.
Do you do backflow testing for commercial buildings?
Yes. Testable backflow prevention devices have to be tested annually by someone endorsed to do it, and the certificate goes to the water authority. We test, repair and replace them, and we do thermostatic mixing valves at the same visit where a building has both.
Do you warrant your work?
Yes. If something is not right after we have left, ring us and we will come back and put it right at our cost. That is part of the STS Guarantee above.
